Pads

CAREFREE® pads are convenient and easy to use. Each has a sticky strip that attaches to your underwear and is individually wrapped for hygienic reasons. All you have to do is pull the adhesive tab to open the wrapper and unfold the pad inside. Try to avoid letting the pad touch any surfaces in the bathroom. It's important that it remains free from harmful bacteria.

Use clean hands to peel the pad out of the wrapper and place it, sticky-side down, in the cotton-lined crotch of your underwear. Peel back the small strips of paper on top to reveal the sticky tabs and wrap each wing around the sides of your underwear. This will ensure you have adequate coverage from leaks in between your legs.

To stay fresh and dry all day, you should change your pad every four hours or so. On days when your menstrual flow is particularly heavy, you may find that you need to change it more frequently (every two to three hours).

Yes, there are two types of CAREFREE® pads for you to choose from for a heavy flow – Heavy Day/Night pad and Sweet Dreams Night Pad.

They have a super absorbent core which are slightly bigger and absorb more fluid, meaning they are best for heavy flows. The quick absorbing layers also helps you stay dry and make you feel more comfortable.

Both Heavy Day/Night Pads and Sweet Dreams Pads are suitable for night use however the Heavy Day/Night Pads are also designed for use during the day for heavy flows.

CAREFREE® pads feature an anti-leak core and unique fast lock pockets to absorb fluid fast and lock it away, leaving you feeling completely clean and dry.

The best way to maintain that clean and dry feeling is to change your pad every four hours and consider changing it more frequently on days when your flow is particularly heavy.

CAREFREE® pads can be used to absorb any type of vaginal fluid, including discharge. However, it is important to note that heavy discharge can be a sign of a more serious problem, such as an infection. If in doubt, you should consult a doctor, particularly if the discharge has an unusual colour, unpleasant odour or is associated with pain or irritation when urinating.

For lighter discharge in between periods, consider using CAREFREE® panty liners, which are thinner and more breathable than pads, making them ideal for everyday use.

Currently, there is no CAREFREE® pad range designed for incontinence. However, consider using CAREFREE® PLUS liners for light bladder leakage (LBL).

Those who have severe incontinence or lack the ability to control urinary urges are advised to consult a doctor who will be able to advise them on more specialised products.

CAREFREE® pads come in a variety of sizes and absorbencies to suit your body type and match how heavy or light your period is.

CAREFREE® Ultra Thins regular or super are usually best for your regular flow. They have a super absorbent core and quick absorbing layers to trap fluid leaving you feeling dry and protected. When your flow is heavy, choose CAREFREE® pads (Ultra Thins Heavy Day/Night or Sweet Dreams) with Super absorbency, designed to absorb more fluid than a regular pad.

Each pack of CAREFREE® pads has a simple selection guide printed on top (along the easy-tear perforation), where you can find information that will help you choose the right CAREFREE® product for your needs.

CAREFREE® pads with wings are designed to securely hold the pad in place to provide you with added protection. However, in the event of an extra heavy flow, you should check your pad often and change it frequently to avoid any chance of leakage.

CAREFREE® Heavy Day/Night and Sweet Dream pads feature a bigger and wider absorbency area at the back of the pad for maximum protection while you sleep.

CAREFREE® pads can be purchased at general retailers, such as grocery stores and pharmacies throughout Australia and New Zealand.

CAREFREE® pads are designed with a unique absorbent system which contains 2 layers: airlaid and pin compressed pulp core - both layers are thin and mainly made of white fluff pulp (a paper derivative), thereby are soft and flexible.

The 2 thin absorbent layers, plus the soft HTA cover and Polethylene (PE) backing layer allow the pad to fit closely with the body and provide you with better leakage protection.

No. Please do not flush sanitary pads or their packaging down the toilet. Instead, wrap the used pads within several squares of toilet paper or the hygienic wrapping of your CAREFREE® product and dispose of them in a sanitary disposal unit or normal rubbish bin.

CAREFREE® pads need to expand in order to absorb your menstrual flow. The longer you wear a pad, the fuller it gets. If your pad gets too full, it will not be able to absorb your period as well as usual and this could result in leakage.

To ensure freshness and prevent odours from worsening over time, it is best to change your pad every four hours or so, depending on your menstrual flow.

Liners

CAREFREE® Breathable liners have a breathable back which lets air circulate, helping you feel more fresh and comfy. They’re ideal for days in between your period for absorbing discharge. Original CAREFREE® liners have a moisture-proof back and give you more protection and are great for those days before and towards the end of your period.

CAREFREE® ACTI-FRESH® liners absorb moisture, sweat or smell away from your body to help keep you fresh and dry. And because they’re super thin, they feel just like your undies.

Yes, you can use CAREFREE® Original liners if your discharge is heavy.

Liners are meant for the days in between your period. Some liners like CAREFREE® Original liners might work for you if your period’s very light, although CAREFREE® tampons or CAREFREE® pads are better for periods.

CAREFREE® long liners are 25% longer and even more absorbent than standard liners*so you can use them if you’ve got heavy discharge or spotting to keep your undies feeling fresh and dry.

*vs. CAREFREE® ACTI-FRESH® liners and CAREFREE® BARELY THERE®.

Scented liners include CAREFREE® ACTI-FRESH® liners in Oxygen and Tea Tree, as well as Original and CAREFREE® BARELY THERE® liners with Aloe or Shower Fresh scent. Nice!

Like pads and tampons, you should never flush liners down the toilet. Just wrap them up dispose of them in a sanitary disposal unit or normal rubbish bin.

You might've heard that wearing liners can increase discharge by making you hot and sweaty. This may have been true in the past with older non-breathable panty liners, but CAREFREE® Breathable liners let the air circulate, making that hot and sweaty feeling a thing of the past.

If you’d prefer to wear Breathable liners, look for the CAREFREE® BARELY THERE® range of liners that have a special breathable lining for that fresh feeling all day long.

Tampons

CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons have curved grooves to direct more fluid inside the tampon, helping you feel more confident. Best of all, the special SILK-EASE® cover means they’re much smoother than standard tampons, making them more comfy as well as a whole lot easier to glide in and remove. So they’re great for everyone but especially first-timers and younger girls.

CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons have a special SILK-EASE® cover that makes them really easy to insert and remove*, as well as curved grooves to absorb more fluid. CAREFREE® FLEXIA® tampons have nifty SOFTFOLDS® wings that catch what other tampons may miss, and give you extra protection against leaks.

*vs CAREFREE® Original Tampons.

The curved grooves on CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons and CAREFREE® Original tampons direct more fluid inside the tampon. These curved grooves help stop the downward gush of your period so it can be absorbed better, giving you the protection you need so you can get your groove on no matter what you’re doing.

The special SILK-EASE® cover on CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons makes them silky smooth while preventing fluffiness. Because the SILK-EASE® cover is smoother than normal covers, they’re easier to insert and remove*. Like A-listers in a nightclub queue, they just slide right on in.

*vs Carefree® Original Tampons

CAREFREE® FLEXIA® tampons are the next generation of tampons that offer our most advanced protection against leakage. They’re the first and only tampons with four unique SOFTFOLDS® wings – not to help you take off, but to catch what other tampons may miss. (See the next question.)

The SOFTFOLDS® wings are made of soft material that follow the natural curves of your body. Depending on the position your tampon is in (and no matter what you’re doing – contortionists take note), the wings unfold to the shape of your vagina to catch fluid better. The wings then draw the fluid into the tampon to give you extra protection against leaks.

Everyone’s different, so your tampons are a very personal choice depending on your period and whether it’s heavy or light as well as your body size. If you’re just starting out, try CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons, which have a SILK-EASE® cover making them easier to insert and remove* (you might like to start with the Mini’s). If your period’s heavy then CAREFREE® FLEXIA® tampons give you extra protection against leaks, with unique SOFTFOLDS® wings that catch what other tampons may miss.

*vs Carefree® Original Tampons.

Unlike sushi, CAREFREE® tampons don’t have an expiry date and should last for a long time if you store them in a dry place.

Like pads and liners, you can’t flush tampons down the toilet. They not only block the toilet but are bad for the environment. Wrap them in toilet paper then dispose of them in a sanitary disposal unit or normal rubbish bin.

  • Be extra hygienic during your period, including showering or bathing every day.
  • Wash your hands before, as well as after, inserting a tampon.
  • Unwrap a fresh, clean tampon just before using it – don't handle it more than needed or put it on anything unclean.

  • Throw out any tampon you've unwrapped and not used straight away.
  • Change your tampon 3 to 6 times a day, depending on your flow, and leave it in for no more than eight hours.

The number of droplets is a visual representation of the approximate fluid holding capacity of a CAREFREE® Plus liner. This convention is just a guide for women on what liner to use, depending on how frequent she experiences light bladder leakage. As indicated on pack:

  • Light: 2 droplets
  • Regular: 3 droplets
  • Long: 4 droplets
How long a light bladder leakage liner is used will depend on the amount of leakage a woman produces throughout the day. This varies from women to women but it is generally recommended to change your liner when you feel it to be damp. It is best to also change or remove the liner before going to bed.
